So apparently Allen can recieve NO credit for the work he has done in the Senate, really good work by the way, for Virignia's historical black colleges? What is happening here is liberals and Democrats are trying to take one terribly uttered sentence and damn Allen's character, and make people truly believe he is racist. When something happens that might prove he is not, like this, it has to be shut down to keep the political narrative straight. Perhaps the junior senator puts it best:
"I regret that there are those who would put their personal or political dislike of me ahead of the needs of deserving students and I do not want to be the cause of any controversy which could in any way harm the efforts to help these young people," Allen said in a one-paragraph statement distributed by his Senate office.
Officially, Allen would have recieved this award for pushing through a bill in the Senate that gives $250 millions to black colleges for grants. Past everything else, Allen just got ALOT of money for schools that need it, and it will be used to help a community that has a terrible problem in education, and will do alot of good. That money will help a kid who probably did not think he could go to college, and now can. And please, don't call me racist, either. The statistics back it up. The fact is, this bill will really help the black community of Virignia, and Sen. Allen deserves credit for it. But since its election time, and the LibDem talking points are headed by "Allen = Racist," any sign that Allen has helped anyone not with a white sheet on has to be erased from record. According to the Fund's website, the mission of the organization is this:
The Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund (TMSF) was established in 1987 to carry on Justice Marshall's legacy of equal access to higher education by supporting exceptional merit scholars attending America's Public Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)
By those credentials, tell me how Sen. Allen does not deserve this award? Luckily he is a gentleman and bowed out, keeping the flames from getting fanned and embrassing this honroable organization. I understand politics is politics, but its stuff like this that really makes you wonder what outraged liberals about Macaca: That Allen offended a minority or that the story might go away? This award proves that Allen is now what the left says he is, and to make sure that picture didn't get out, it was silenced. The left in Virgnia is exposed here as not people who care about minorites, but those who care only about calling Republicans racist to win elections, even when the evidence suggests otherwise.
Here is the Daily Kos diary where this seemed to originate. Reading it will make us all understand that maybe Ronald Reagan should not have emptied all those insane asylums in the 1980s.
Look at this choice number from the cleverly named "IhateBush"
This is really good
as it keeps the controversy stoked just a little bit longer.
But eventually Webb will have to show that Allen's negative qualities are more than just being a racist to win Virginia, as there are a lot of racists outside of NoVa.
NewsMax has the AP story on this.
Shaun Kenney has his usual excellent analysis on this as well.
The Washington Post DOES carry this story, but its the same AP piece that NewsMax has up. I can't help but wonder about thtat. Couldn't even be bothered to get someone to write a real story on this.
I seriously doubt, outside of the blogs, whether this will make a dent. But it shows the real face behind the macaca outrage, doesn't it?
