Prince William County Shows The Way
I've been making pleas for our elected officials to step up when it comes to illegal immigration. No locality has better representation than Prince William County. First Jackson Miller, then Corey Stewart, then John Stirrup, and now Delegate Jeff Frederick. And not only are these men talking, they are DOING. Del. Frederick has now called for, and will present legislation on, an end to sactuary cities in Virginia. Here is from his release:
Providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants in essence encourages illegal immigration, and it makes Virginia a destination for illegals. We want to stop these policies that invite people who are not legally present in the United States from coming to Virginia, and this legislation will put some teeth behind existing state law
Illegal immigration is costing the taxpayers of Virginia a fortune, and it is harming the quality of life of our citizens. It's time that we require our local governments to obey state law
The impetus of this is aimed at Arlington County, but could also apply here in Fairfax. According to Frederick, Arlington actually gives free housing subsidies and forbids police from actually doing their job and reporting illegal aliens to the Feds. In Fairfax, the marriage between the local developrs and political Democrat bosses has made illegal immigration almost a necessity here and the power in this axis has left the average guy on the outs. Democrats here are so partisan they are blinded to this, while Republicans are so demoralized they are afraid to comfront it. Like I wrote before, Fairfax Republicans need to look to Prince William for lessons. Of course there are differences, but Republicans in PWC win because they run as Republicans, not as anything different, and are proud of it. Fairfax has some players lead by Ken Cuccinelli. Michael Frey, Pat Herrity, and Marc Cadin are great as well. Jeannemarie is also getting on board. But other than Cuccinelli and Herrity and Cadin, Fairfax Republicans and more dipping their toes in the water rather than cannonballing in.
Fairfax--follow Prince William's lead! Don't be afraid of who you are!
This isn't new for Jeff. He's been out on this issue for a while. 2 years ago he called on Gov. Warner to declare a state of emergency like the democratic governors of Arizona and New Mexico did, and he's sponsored a slew of bills on this.
