Again, NRO's The Corner has another lamebrain idea for the Virginia Senate. This time its Ted Olsen. Gilmore is my man. These guys are looking for a Webb-like gimmick candidate as a quick fix. Jim Gilmore is the right man right now, a conservative who has won statewide twice and will actually work at building the party. I've becoming convinced going through this election cycle in 2007 that the biggest problem for the RPV is that we lack organization. Nominating a gimmick candidate and wait for our opponent to say "maccaca" is a one-in-a-million occurance. Gilmore will do the hard work, and he is to be commended for being willing to take on Mark Warner. Win or lose, we need a candidate who will work for the party as well as themselves. No trick candidate can get that done. And with a candidate as good as Mark Warner, we can't throw some newbie candidate out there.
Support Jim Gilmore.
Chris, please read this (http://right-wing-liberal.blogspot.com/2007/10/chris-and-others-allow-me-to-explain.html). It will explain everything.

Yeah I understand what your talking about. But I think Gilmore's presidential run was all a way to increase his name for a Senate run. He knows how unpopular the Iraq War and how that was part of the reason George Allen went down last year. So perhaps Gilmore is looking to protect himself from behing hit as a Bush acolyte on Iraq.
We cannot aford to be so doctrannaire right now. Gilmore is the best we have, and he's really goof. The man his a conservative. Through and through. And unlike our last few govenrors, when Jim Gilmore made a promise he worked to actually keep it! He's pro-life, pro-free enterprise, he's won before, and he's the best we've got.
I truly believe if Jim Gilmore got to the US Senate, we would haev a conservative in the mold of Jim DeMint, Tom Coburn, and others. Fighting taxes and fighting spending, that what Jim Gilmore will do.
Do I agree with his assesment of Iraq? No. But that letter was written months ago, lets wait to see what he has to say now that the surge is working so well.

Let's see... His Presidential run was an embarrassment, even moreso if you believe he was actually running for President, he did a less than stellar job as RNC Chairman, he failed to take advantage of being the first GOP governor with a GOP legislature since... EVER, and he can't raise money. We'd better find someone else viable ASAP. Gilmore cannot and will not beat Mark Warner. Reality.
