WMAL: Baise Trails By Only 3 Points
I have no proof of this, but Red Virginia Blog heard it on WMAL last week. I think that Gary, just by running against Connolly, will do better than people might think. According to what I've heard, his new line at door-knocking is "Hi, I'm Gary Baise and I'm running against Gerry Connolly," and gets rave reviews. This race is fascinating becasue its the one that wasn't suppose to be competative. There has been talk about various down-ballot races and how they will drag candidates down, but has anyone considered up-ballot races raining down on? Could Connolly actually lose? Gary Baise is not a politicians, and running against a hyper-kinetic politician who isn't particuarly well liked, his background is even more likeable. Suddenly close Senate races in Fairfax, these Dem challengers might have to worry about Gerry Connolly sititng on top of their ticket.
But seriously, do you guys out there think Gary Baise can pull this off?

No.

YES, Baise can and should win! Connolly has never seen a high density development he did not like and he has only discovered the boarding house issue during this election cycle so he will forget it as soon as the election is over.

TJ, he'll forget about it the day (if) he gets reelected, becasue if he wants to run for Congress he has to do it immediatly since Leslie Byrne has already started running.
So basically Fairfax Co will get nothing out of him, as if we have gotten much now! Gary Baise will be focused on the next four years, just for Fairfax.

Ask Gary Baise a question and he gives you an actual answer. There is no nonsense to Gary Baise. He actually LISTENS to people when he's out shaking hands. I believe he has refused developer money (which Connolly gets plenty of.) I've donated to help him. If he is to have a shot at winning and retaking the County government for the citizens, then he needs our help. Money, time, whatever you can give.

Gerry Connolly is hoping his re-election will launch him to run for Congress in the 11th District. BTW, doesn't he live in the 8th? Electing Gary Baise ensures at least a four-year term of unravelling the problems that Connolly and his cronies have created re: higher taxes, overcrowding, illegal immigrants, no transportation bonds, etc.

Amen Brother! As a lot of Dems are chanting ABC Anybody But Connolly...
Funny the post the other day did a story on farm subsides Basie receives, he uses a 10 year total number to try and put one over on the Post Readers it (for most of them its not a hard job) but Baise gets 30k in farm subsidies. I think that is far less then what others in the Farming business get like Ted Turner and his Ex wife Hanoi Jane, Sam Donaldson, Scotty Pippin to name a few.
The Washington Post seems to fail to do a story on Gerry Connolly and all the developer money he got and the coloration between issues before the council and the timings of donations. Or Gerry’s job at SAIC right after he voted to put a metro stop in front of the SAIC building.
