In a "wish Youtube was there" moment, it seems Gerry Connolly absolutly lost his ever-loving mind at an NAACP candidate forum last night. Patrick McDade spoke in what was apparently a very subdued speech that didn't mention his opponents name one bit. Gerry Connolly then, from what I heard, jumped up and screamed "I'm speaking for Ray Morrogh!" Connolly then cannoballed to the moderators and grabed the mic despite the hoots and pleas of the audience. Patrick then spoke up and said something to the effect that Morrogh had his chance to respond and he chose not to attend the event. At this point, Boss Tweed Connolly apparently shouted at the top of his lungs, "Sit down, this is none of your business. Sit down." Patrick then said that it was his business, since Morrogh was his opponent. Gerry responded, "You sit down! You don't run the NAACP! This is none of your business!" He then apparently started a rambling and factually incorrect (shocker!) speech for Ray Ray. And apparently, while Connolly blathered on, people filed out until there was only about a dozen left when Gerry finished. Connolly was scheduled to give the dinner address but bailed. Rumor was he was asked not to speak.
Only Gerry Connolly could turn the NAACP against the Democrat Party. This is a potentially huge story. Connolly, if this story is true, clearly broke the rules of the event and disrepected every single member who was there and the NAACP as an organization. Gerry is a bully, plain and simple. And he always has been. He takes developer money and then approves their wishes. Anyone who has met Patrick McDade knows he's a repsectful and nice guy. He's also new at politics, and iif you watched his debate with Ray Morrogh you saw Ray Ray try and do the same thing. Good for McDade for standing up to Connolly, who clearly thinks that when he walks into a room everyone should stop what they are doing, roll out a red carpet, and bow before King Gerry. He not only bullied McDade, but Gerry Connolly just bullied the NAACP, an important Democrat constituent.
This man is a miserable leader and a terrible example of a leader. He needs to go.
Me thinks Mr.Connolly is going down on Tuesday and he knows it. He's taking Mr. Morrogh with him. Good riddance to bad rubbage.

So is this story going to hit any of the major media any time soon? I hope so.
Talk about the Democrats taking the black vote for granted!

Okay. Um. So.
WHY was it that Mr. Morrogh not in attendance to speak for himself???!!!

Unbelievable. And how predictable that the WaPo didn't mention this in their Morrough-McDade article today.

Vincent just forwarded me McDade's first hand account of this incident that I have posted at TC:
http://tooconservative.com/?p=1629
I hope McDade is OK with this, but I thought this is just way too important not to get out as a first hand account. If this was Baise that did this the press would be all over it.
Surprise, surprise, NLS has endorsed Connolly. Maybe this will send him back to sanity and he'll resume bashing this arrogant jerk.

At McDade's request the email was taken down, but it clearly confirms MC's account of what transpired.

Again: WHERE was Ray Morrogh and what was his reason for missing an NAACP candidate's forum? WHY was Gerry Connolly left to speak for him? If you are running for office, then you make yourself available for these forums, don't you?
Hey, apparently, someone calls Chap's phone number and Ray Morrogh is all over that press event like a fly on a pile of you-know-what! But can't he be bothered to meet with the NAACP, an organization that has had VERY understandable differences with his office in the past? Remember the Jones case? Lots of questions raised there about the Commonwealth Attorney's handling of that matter. Now I admit that I don't always agree with the NAACP, but I certainly agreed with their protest and with the questions they raised in regard to the Jones case. $3.7 million verdict granted by a civil jury in that case, I believe. And a $2 million verdict for the Cornejo family - interesting testimony there.
I guess when you have such a crummy felony prosecution rate, stuff falls through the cracks. Even BIG stuff. Tragic stuff.
And I love how we've got Morrogh claiming victory in his glossy mailers regarding Lee Malvo. But what about John Muhammed? No victory to claim there, eh, Mr. Morrogh? Remember that infamous screw up regarding his "right to a speedy trial?" Put THAT in a flyer, why don't you?!

Good post, Isophorone.
But I still have to ask: WHERE was Mr. Morrogh while all this was occurring? Does anyone know?
