Only two complaints - as big as the Backstreet Boys where, I still think its kind of an insult that a rap song wasn't #3, given what hip-hop achieved in the 1990s. But its a good mix of every genre prevelent from grunge to rock to chick rock to pop to boy bands to rap and even what remained of the littles 80s cheese that spilled over. I was happy to see a couple songs that I love like "The Way" and "Sex and Candy" and "Run-Around" in there. Its a great list and if you go to the VH1 site, they will have videos there too. Its very cool.
I agree with their number one pick: Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." It reminds me of middle school dances and headbanging with friends....gee, those were the days!

Eeeeee....yaaaa.... okay. I'll go for "Smells Like Teen Spirit" at the top. I prefer "Heart Shaped Box" myself, but that wasn't as big of a hit.
Britney Spears over "Losing My Religion"? Nah. Ugh. I'm not sure I've ever managed to make it through one of her songs. Yet no Chili Peppers until #15? Huh.

I think "One headlight" by Jakob Dylan should of made the top 100

What about Don't Speak? No Doubt's Tragic Kingdom had several hits. Pearl Jam's Alive and Summer Time DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince

lame list. smashing pumpkins defined the decade more than anyone else for a significant enough of a minority to warrant some inclusion here.

wow this is really cool. although i was born in '93 listening to some of these songs really bring back memories of being a little kid and hearing the songs being played on the radio. My greatest memory is from hearing ice ice baby. it reminds me of when i was about 6 or so and riding in the car with my super cool babysitter and her taking me to go buy a gingerbread house at ingles which we never managed to put up because my little sisters added too much water to the frosting. so instead we just ate the candy. anyways i watched vh1 last night and headed most of the songs. and honestly i think i like 90's music more than music from today.

excuse me? Smells like Teen Spirit?? yeah, i love Nirvana, but most people couldn't get through the song because it was too repetitive.. I definitely would have gone with Lithium here..

I would agree with most of the list, but I think a Rage Against The Machine Song should of made the list somewhere at least 50.
