Its deeper than just taxes. What Congress has done was send $700 billion down the toilet, and it has done nothing to calm the markets worldwide. And you know what will come next, right? Another bailout. Then another. And another. We help out one industry, others will come calling. And crisis-scared congressmen will rush to hand more money out. And more. Anything to prove to America they are doing something, whether is good or bad.
Jim Gilmore has made a stand. Its as much about decision making and responsibility. He did it in Virginia, where he vowed to lower taxes and he did. Business came rushing to Virginia because of the climate and decisions Jim Gilmore made. This bailout was wrong-headed, irresponsible, and an attempt by desperate congressional leaders - backed by a lameduck president and lameduck incumbents not seeking reelection - to fix a gunshot wound with a band aid.
Jim Gilmore has the priorities of this country straight, and he would work and vote to ensure something like this never happens again.
I just sent him some cash, you should too.
Here's the video of the debate, and no shock that Warner wanted no more of this.
Glad Gov. Gilmore spoke up against the bailout. Wish McCain had voted against it.
