"In less than three weeks in office Obama has collected more than $550,000 in back taxes just from cabinets appointments."
~ Gov. Mark Sanford
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is becoming the face of the resistance to the unbridled debt the Obama Administration is putting on this country by fiat. I'm glad he's fighting back because Obama and his Congress are playing at the heart-strings, talking about the poor, the unemployed, the terrible infrastructure of this country. And Obama is right, but only half-right. Talk to any local office holder, and I have, and they will tell you the dirty little secret to all this is while the government may fund these programs, they only fund them fully for the first year or so. Then its down, to fifty percent, then twenty, then five, then nothing. But the mandate still exists, the money has to be there and that forces states and localities to either raise taxes or cut other programs. Oh don't worry about Barry, he gets to keep his nose in the air while Europe applauds, and Democrat governors in America all want to raise taxes anyways so this is perfectly fine for them.
This is the case more Republicans need to be making. The earmarks are one thing, but that doesn't fire up the electorate the way talking about the real sin of this administration . . . debt. The spending and debt that this president has incurred, now in the trillions, is more than every other president before him combined. Never let a crisis go wasted indeed, Mr. Emmanuel.
There are a lot of bright stars in the party right now, starting with the one in Alaska. But for some reason my mind keeps floating back to Sanford. Its still early, very early, and there is much to be done. But there is a certain freedom in Sanford's spirit, an "I-don't-care-what-you-think-about-me" style that I really like. He doesn't get get caught up in personal drama, but real and made up, like Palin has. He does't come off as Kenneth from 30 Rock like Jindal does, he doesn't pander the way Crist and Huntsman do, and he doesn't bore like Pawlenty can. There is a total intellecutal honesty there, a trust that you just know he will always be himself. He's authentic.
People who know me know I'll back whoever we get in '12. But Sanford is a person I can't shake right now. Watch this video as he calmy makes Rangel and Levin squirm. Can you imagine what he could do if he got his hands on Obama himself?
I am beyond ready for President Sanford.

I've been saying this for a long time. President Sanford is the only man to pull us out of the supersized tax and spend trap we are currently in, and I look forward to working hard to get him elected in 2012.

I like Sanford, I really do, but from what I've heard of his foreign policy, he just isn't someone that I can support. I can roll with him as a VP, certainly, but not as the Commmander in Chief.

This guy is an idiot.
He won't accept federal money to replace 150 year old schools attended by poor back kids. OK by him, his kids did not have to go to any such school, no doubt. Besides, school construction is a one-time thing, so you don't have the unfunded mandate in the future issue.
Sanford is the kind of guy who wouldn't lend his garden hose to put out a fire in his neighbor's house because he believes in the principal of conserving water.
Right wing white guy from South Carolina -- that really expands the base!
Go ahead, run him in '12 -- Obama wins, 65-35.

Mark Sanford is a good man. He has governed his state with the kind of wisdom that I wish that President Obama would show.
I believe at this early stage, however, that the two best candidates for 2012 are Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee. Their respective communications skills are second to none. This is combined with solid leadership skills displayed in their governance, along with an appeal to the vast middle class.
As far as personal drama is concerned, the Democrats are going to dig up family dirt on just about anybody we put up, and that candidate will likely have to address it.

Mark Sanford is the man! He is the one person who has consistantly spoken out against the President's debt ridden plan. Others have hopped on the bandwagon- but Sanford has led the way. He has a common sense sincerity that I haven't seen in other politicians. Go, Mark, Go !
