Rasmussen:
So I'm not trying to turn this into a blog about polls, but it was at this point in 2005 and 2006 that we saw Tim Kaine and Jim Webb finally caught up to Jerry Kilgore and George Allen and started sprinting ahead of them. Deeds can't get past the 43-45% range, no matter who far or close McDonnell is past or at 50%. Deeds numbers simply are not moving when he needs them too, and McDonnell has, unlike Kilgore and Allen, put in the hard work in the six or seven months before the campaign began to brand himself, and put out thoughtful policy positions that have insulated him from the negative ads that Deeds has run almost exclusively.
