silly but amusing at the same time! best of luck to both Fimian and Herrity! (But Herrity has some major catching up to do...)

You're not outnumbered. There are thousands of folks out there who agree with you. Herrity has a bunch of endorsements and a handful of zealous bloggers. But, that's only a handful of votes.
Keith has the issues nailed tight. All we know about Herrity is that he says he's a conservative.
But where is Herrity on the issues that count? Nobody knows.

wah, wah,...you're being mean,...people won't vote for a candidate supported by meanies LIKE YOU!
Pat was spending all of the last week getting his endorsements....and don't say he should have campaigned for Steve Hunt, because Pat knew he was going to lose.
...and by the way,....you're a Jeff Frederick supporter so you shouldn't talk!!

Chris...c'mon. Pat's been in the race a day. Keith's been running for three years. Cut Herrity some slack.
Doc, where were you during Pat's supervisor race? During his chairman race? Were you not paying attention?
Here's a great question - why is it that every time there's a primary people have to try to turn it into a contest to see who is the most conservative?
Posted by: Brian W. Schoeneman | January 15, 2010 at 01:06 AM
Schoeneman,
People turn primaries into contests to see who is the most conservative because most conservatives (as each may respectively define it) are movement conservatives who see elections, laws and policies as opportunities to affect the political dynamic in their favor. They tend to be mistrustful of pick-and-choose cafeteria conservatives or those like,...say,...VA Blogger, whose static conception of the electorate is better suited for marketing women’s underwear.
Why do people pose dumb questions as great profundities? Perhaps they are distracted by the Haagen Dazs between them and the computer.

HERES ANOTHER FOR YOU:
COMMUNITY SERVICE HISTORY:
HERRITY: http://patherrity.com/about-pat/community-service-resume/
FIMIAN: oh, wait, he doesnt have one...i forgot :( he's just another rich guy that wants to buy a congressional seat...typical.
Posted by: local GOP | January 15, 2010 at 03:26 AM
clearly the humor was lost of local GOP.
Wet blanket. :(
P.S. -Fimian was busy running a national company that created jobs, provided health care, and held the economy. Oops, there I go being serious again. ;-)

Local GOP seems young, but so adorable.
It'll be fun popping that cherry during this primary season.

Outside of taking a government paycheck, what does Herity do? Does he have a real job? Seems like all he does is run for office.
Posted by: benny | January 15, 2010 at 08:03 AM
Herrity seems like a government version of the energizer bunny. Wind it up, and it just keeps running for the next office. What are his policies on Health Care, Energy, Taxes ....... nobody knows? Where does he stand on major Constitutional issues? Nobody knows. We're just supposed to vote for him because he has name recognition?
We'll, I've not spent a lifetime in Fairfax County, like most other county residents, I suppose. He has no name recognition with me, and I don't know of any of his policies that convince me he's a conservative. And I have no idea who all those famous folks are on his endorsement list. Doesn't impress me. Lady Ga Ga could be on that list, at least I know who she is.
But, I can see and hear Keith Fimian's policy statements. That works for me.

Herrity is a certified public accountant who works for a small business. I understand he was doing that long before he started his political career 2 years ago.
And this ignorant carping over resumes is precisely what I feared would happen with a contest between these two candidates. Neither is well served by it.

Chris,
Too bad his company wont help him unseat Gerry Connlly whose name is an institution. Besides, running doesnt preclude him from being involved in the community...at all...thats a crock argument.
Posted by: local GOP | January 15, 2010 at 03:20 PM
Oh, and...US Inspect has laid off so many people...guess even Fimian isnt that great a CEO...maybe he'll have time t help people in the community now...

Babe,
"What are his policies on Health Care, Energy, Taxes ....... nobody knows? Where does he stand on major Constitutional issues? Nobody knows. We're just supposed to vote for him because he has name recognition?"
Really....look up his voting record, that thing that your boy Fimian doesnt have. So really, you are either blind or ignorant or seriously un informed because there is only 1 person in this race without a record to back up their rhetoric, and thats Fimian. As for Pat, he just announced, give him time to get his web site up to date.
Posted by: local GOP | January 15, 2010 at 03:27 PM
In Babe's defense...I grew up here in Fairfax and while I knew of Jack Herrity, I didn't know Pat Herrity existed until this past fall when I began to volunteer walking for Bob McDonnell. (I don't even remember seeing many Pat Herrity signs around during his run for chairman.) If you've been involved in politics for a while, it's easy to learn the big names. If you're a regular Joe, it's hard.
I've met both Herrity and Fimian while volunteering for the McDonnell campaign and both are good men who care about the people. This is going to be a hard primary to watch.
Also, name one business that has not had to lay off people during this recession, local GOP. Both Herrity and Fimian are businessmen and I'm sure that both would say that this recession has been difficult for businesses and lay-offs aren't uncommon. Hopefully Herrity won't take too much time updating his website!

200 Grande, first of all, my question was rhetorical. Second of all, why would any self-respecting Republican buy Haagen Daaz, when everyone knows Breyers makes better ice cream.
Primaries shouldn't be about who has the most pure ideology. They should be about choosing the best candidate to beat the Democrat. The general can be about ideology. I don't have a problem with movement conservatives and I would hope they don't have a problem with me.
As for the resume comparisons and policy comparisons, as I said before, Pat's been in the race for two days now. Cut him some slack. The fact that Herrity doesn't have all of that stuff up and ready to go on roll out day only solidifies that he just decided to get into the race this week and hasn't been planning this for a long time.

Schoeneman,
Come to think of it, you are kind of like a woman, your mind is stuck in your own little world, projecting your sense of how you think the world should be, rather than making an effort in trying to understand the world as it is.
If you had looks to match your attitude, then your arguments would be more persuasive.
Posted by: 200 Grande | January 15, 2010 at 05:31 PM
Pat is saying that Fimian made his money off of sweet deal government contracts, not the private sector.
Keith is saying that Herrity was laid off of his job.
WTF? At least Tom Davis made his money with a real job.
Posted by: benny | January 15, 2010 at 08:16 PM
200 Grande, I'm a realist. I have a firm grasp on how the world is. But being a realist doesn't mean that I can't have ideals, too. There's no reason to turn this election into some kind of ideological struggle. We have two good candidates, either one of which would be better than Boss Connolly. I believe Herrity is the better candidate. You may not. So be it. We each have one vote.
Posted by: Brian W. Schoeneman | January 15, 2010 at 10:40 PM
Wow, 200 Grande! That was very impressive how you so casually insulted half the population. I'm sure your arguments will be very popular with women. They just love it when you dismiss them as silly little creatures living in a fantasy world who are out of touch with reality.
It is a shame for you that Fimian didn't run a better campaign in 2008. Had he won, a primary contest would not be an issue.
Fimian's vote in the 11th tracked extremely close to the top of the ticket. He polled less than 1% of the vote better in his race than McCain did in the presidential. Is there any reason to believe he will run a better campaign this time? Or will he run the same mediocre campaign and just hope there will be a sufficient Republican tide to carry him into office? And do you think that will be sufficient in a fairly Democratic leaning district?
I suspect Brian and others simply wish to put forward the strongest possible candidate to take advantage of what almost everyone believes will be a more favorable environment for Republicans. They feel that Herrity is that stronger candidate. You disagree.
I have yet to see (I may have missed it) anyone make the case for why Fimian will run a stronger race than he did last time. Making silly misrepresentations of Herrity doesn't make that case. It makes people suspect that the case can't be made convincingly.

Hey Dan, it's about being real.
With women,
when you get in a fight,
and you're doing it right,
you will always excite,
a 'gina tingle that goes for a very long night.
It's also called game, and if you'd like, I'd be happy to teach you. After that you will no longer be afraid of women. Aloha.
By the way, its Wednesday, January 27, 2010,
Does Pat Herrity know where his issues are?
