The national party certainly seems something with her, as Citizens United is getting into fundraising for the only Republican elected inside the beltway. I've heard it whispered before, but should Frank Wolf decide to retire, its pretty clear that Barbara Comstock is being groomed to succeed him. She just has to get reelected and with outside groups like Citizens getting behind her, its clear she is a major priority among both the party and the activists.
Citizens United is behind her because she is good friends with Karl Rove. One interesting thing will be if she is still in the 10th district after the redistricting. I've been hearing for a while that Sen. Vogel may be being groomed for it.

Not really a shocker. Many speculated that her run for the legislature was merely to set her up for the eventual run for Congress. With her national connections it is hard to see her spending a long stretch in Richmond. I suppose the same could be said of Vogel.
Wolf may screw those plans up by staying in Congress a while longer. I would have bet on his retirement if the Republicans had remained in the minority. Now that they are in the majority he may find sticking around far more appealing.

Not surprising, nor a bad thing. I've disagreed with a few of her votes but overall have found her to be a pretty impressive Delegate.
I have to agree with Dan though, I think Wolf, may stick around a bit longer than perhaps some currently believe. He's also got the enticement of being once again in the Majority.

Amazing to me the wishful thinking that goes on in Va-10. Congressman Wolf has never said anything to anyone about retiring, but the Dems talks about him retiring because the cannot beat him, while speculation about his retirement abounds even for candidates who may not even be in his district after redistricting.
Some food for thought-I suspect that as Frank Wolf knows he can have more impact on the issues that concern him as a member of Congress than as a private citizen...and as such he ain't leaving any time soon.

She was grooming herself for succeeding Wolf when she decided to run for the House of Delegates. This isn't anything new or surprising.

Comstock may actually be an outstanding candidate for VA-11 in 2012. I don't see any chance of her area staying in the 10th. I also doubt Wolf is going anywhere soon being back in the majority.

She is impressive, and Comstock for the 11th is a very intriguing idea. Certainly much better than another round of Fimian.

Loudoun Insider, you've done it now! Cue the trolls to begin attacking you for not realizing that Fimian was the most wonderful candidate ever.
The fact that he failed to capitalize on the strongest Republican tide in living memory had absolutely nothing to do with any weakness of the candidate or his campaign. It was no doubt the result of the intervention of space aliens or something.
If you weren't such an America hating, RINO squish, secret Muslim, terrorist, Communist, Fascist, statist, leftist pusher of the gay agenda you'd realize that.

I know, I know.

Loudoun Insider is really hoping that I can move to the 11th and be persuaded to run for the House.

That's quite possible - Dick has no trouble picking up and moving if he thinks it will get him elected to something again!

Many believe that Gainsville District Supervisor John Stirrup would be a great candidate for the 10th district.
