This looks much better than the part sliced out by the Wall Street Journal. Normally my aetenna is up for this kind of stuff but since it was the WSJ, I figured maybe they wouldn't be so deceptive. Her candidacy is interesting, and I'm inclined to think its a positive. Some are looking for people with "experience" and more of a resume, but the "experienced" politicians are the ones that got us into this mess we are in now to begin with so her not holding previous office isn't something I have a problem with. Its clear that she won't deter Bob Marshall from running, but Corey Stewart sadly sounded way too supportive in the WSJ article. Stewart is probably my top choice right now in the anyone-but-Allen camp. I don't know, I'll have to see how she handles things and I want to be able to see her myself in some forum before I make my mind up. Still, the more the merrier and I think she brings in the opinions of a lot of people who might otherwise be left out.
Her full statement is below
I am the mother of three young children, and my first priority is both to protect them today and protect their future. I truly worry about what the next five years holds for our children and the nation, given this climate of reckless and immoral spending. Someone must step into the gap so that our children and America are not crushed in the coming years under the weight of insurmountable debt and debilitating taxes.
Unfortunately, the politicians in DC have made it abundantly clear by their actions that protecting their own interests is more important than protecting the interests of our children, and they have mutated the US government into a giant, self-serving entity.
In just the latest example, during the lame duck session Congressional leaders flinched when it came time to make hard choices and provide real leadership. Congress needed to make the Bush tax cuts permanent and cut spending in order to put bedrock under the feet of small businesses and create jobs. Instead, insider politics gave us a Washington ‘deal’ that extended the uncertainty with ‘temporary’ tax cuts and added $57 billion to our skyrocketing debt.
We would be foolish to hope one last time that career politicians can and will save us from the national crisis that they themselves even now are making worse. To change Washington we need to elect a new generation of leaders to the Senate and House who will fight to restore the virtue and accountability that has been sorely lacking in our government.
As a US Senator uncorrupted by inside-the-Beltway politics, I will put our nation’s future first and serve the interests of our families and children, rather than perpetuating the perverse system created by big-government politicians. I look forward to making a more formal announcement in January as we prepare to launch the campaign.
I had hoped that Jaimie would offer some real ideas, or real solutions to our problems, but no...
Her statement is boilerplate, and could have come from any of the thousands of political consultants from our so-called insider politicians.
She did not offer even one new idea or solution to the problems that we face, but instead expects the citizens to back her candidacy solely because she has incubated three successful births.
My cat has had six babies, perhaps she should run for the Senate, too.

Dude, the election is nearly 2 years away - if you form your opinion from one simple press release this early out I'm not sure what to tell you.

This woman is absolutely a political insider, and is trying to hoodwink people with catchphrases. Ridiculous.

Yeah but in someways most of these tea party people have political ties - the difference is they aren't part of the governing class. Radtke certainly isn't part of the establishment Republican class in Virginia the way George Allen is.
