Am I being too impatient? All I can say is Jamie Radtke has underwhelmed me, and her campaign is too me to be nothing more than name-calling press releases and attacks on George Allen. I'm not in opposition to George Allen just to do it, and Radtke has failed - in my mind - thus far to build any sort of narrative that can make the case that Allen should not be the nominee.
And Corey Stewart is supporting raising taxes in Prince William County, does that now disqualify him? The money is being used for local roads, so that should help him in Prince William for his reelection but its already drawn the ire of "Patriots."
I'm starting to think Bob Marshall might be the only real alternative who will be viable to challenge Allen for this Senate nomination. And just to reiterate my position, I'm not sure I'm comfortable rehiring one of the chefs that was in the kitchen when the food was spoiled. Allen was there for six years voting for many of things we are trying to fight now. He's voted for raising the debt ceiling, for instance. Unlike Radtke, Marshall has a spotless nearly-20 year record in the House of Delegates voting "no" on a lot of popular spending that was popular at the time but ultimately destructive.
But who knows . . . perhaps I'm just going through the stages of greif on my way to accepting Allen's inevitable nomination. But I feel that someone has to say what many Republicans are feeling privately: that Allen is a flawed candidate who's voting record is spotty at best as a senator. All these op-eds and books and statements that he's saying now? Its easy when your on the outside looking in, but when he did have a say he voted for many of the programs and spending that he now curses. What are we to trust, rhetoric or action? I think that maybe Bob Marshall now is the best candidate to available to exploit that contrast with substance and credibility.
Q: What are we to trust, rhetoric or action?
A: Action, because by their deeds, you shall know them.

Chris,
With so many candidates in the race, this only increases the odds of George Allen's nomination. Looks more and more like a convention was the only way to nominate someone OTHER than George Allen.
Hmmmm......

I don't know . . . Marshall himself didn't want a convention because he worried that Allen has so much insider pull he'd never stand a chance. I believe someone told me Marshall's line of reasoning was that in a convention they could steal it from him again

Chris,
As a Marshall supporter, I can report that that is completely correct. I adore Bob Marshall, but he was wrong about a primary being better for him than a convention.
Plus, that doesn't change the fact that a crowded primary always favors the one and only well-known candidate.
As things stand, George Allen has seven (count 'em -- seven) primary opponents:
1. Del. Robert G. Marshall (13)
2. Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey A. Stewart
3. Brig. Gen. Bert K. Mizusawa
4. Timothy E. Donner
5. Bishop Earl W. Jackson, Sr.
6. David McCormick
7. Jamie L. Radtke
With that much traffic, George Allen doesn't even need to crack 40% in the primary. Don't think his people don't know that.

Any candidate who served during the mess creation phase in Washington (any prior term) is flawed. They were all there when the train wreck was happening in slow motion.
The worst ones are the leaders, Boehner and McConnell. And it just gets worse ..... If they created the mess, how can anyone expect them to fix it? Throw all the bastards out.
Maybe Allen's break in service has allowed him to get his bearings? I'll give him a shot to go back re-build an America based on the Constitution and lower spending.
