I had the fortune of driving from North Carolina to Fairfax today taking Rt. 29 the entire way north. It was beyond frustrating driving on roads in Pittsylvania County that were immaculate but I was the only one on the road. I was ready to pull my Northern Virginia hair out!
I remember driving along the stretch of 29 near Danville years ago when they were doing some road improvements there. I came through there around five o'clock on a weekday, and with a lane closure there was absolutely no traffic trouble whatsoever. So little that I am sure a two lane 29 would have handled it well. So why were they spending who knows what improving that? Make work ROVA vs. NOVA Robin Hood bullshit. Everyone who has to deal with NOVA traffic hell (as I did today on Loudoun's stretch of Rt. 7) should be forced to drive down there to see how their state transportation dollars have been spent lately.
