Apparently as Steve Hunt was talking to FCRC this month, Flanary had a flyer handed out blasting Steve for "losing" eight different elections. And while we all know that electability is a concern with Hunt, the bluntness of the attack seems to have angered some people who might want to vote for Jason, but really like Steve. Here's something Flanary should remember, people in this party LIKE Steve Hunt. He and his wife have been active for 15 years at every level or political organization from precincts to running as a candidate. He ran for office, proudly I might add, as a conservative when everyone was drinking the Tom Davis kool-aid that told us we had to move to the middle, support raising some taxes fees, et al. He goes to every meeting, and supports every candidate. He's also loyal and honest - witness, he continued to stand by Pat Herrity in 2008 despite most conservative going in with Keith Fimian. Flannery may win this nomination with all the money he's raised from himself and his business, but he needs to watch how he does it.
Steve Hunt was hustling up and down the neighborhoods of Fairfax county for every candidate with an "R" when Flannery was busted for plagiarism as a consultant, jocking for CapNet, fetching Speaker Howell his coffee, and lobbying for higher taxes with the Fairfax Chamber.
What did I say?
That's right, someone wasn't happy with what Flanary pulled and passed some nice nuggets to me which I will post up later.
It wasn't just the bluntness of the attack, it was the untruthfulness. Counting the ongoing 2011 primary as a campaign he didn't win? Counting the two weeks he was considering running for Congress back in 2008? Not including any of his victories in competitive primaries?
I understand the desire to stretch the truth as much as you can reasonably defend (and a JF supporter could, with a straight face, defend every "fact" on that flyer). But your target audience with a piece like that is likely to be pretty savvy, and can spot bullshit pretty easily. And when they do, it negates your entire point.

I talked with two people at the meeting who really disliked this flyer. It was petty.
Also, Steve Hunt briefly ran for Congress in the 11th district, not the 10th district as reported on the flyer. Anyone with any knowledge of area politics would know that Steve Hunt would not run against 10th district congressman Frank Wolf.

Flanary, not Flannery.

Your post would be much more credible if you learned how to spell a candidate's name correctly. A simply visit to his website might help you in that regard.

BTW, it's "Plagiarism", not "plagerism"

I know I know, I threw this up right after work and rushed it.

Here is a comment I posted on fairfax-station patch on their profile of Steve Hunt
I campaigned for Steve Hunt in 2010 special election and am doing so again. I volunteer for him because I like the conservative values Steve and his wife Maureen believe in and their hard work and commitment for their country.
This article quotes the following about Steve Hunt as related by one of his acquaintances.
“He would rather have a friendly discussion, but he does care passionately about what is right.”
I witnessed this first hand on July 20 in the Fairfax County Republican Committee meeting when Flanary's supporters, distributed negative literature about Steve right at the precise moment that Steve was addressing the committee on his concerns and plans for business and transportation.
The committee meeting had provided all candidates from various races an opportunity to address the issues and it was a very uplifting to hear the candidate's ideas to create jobs, promote small business incentives and resolve transportation gridlock. However, right at the precise moment when Steve started talking, Flanary's supporters went around the room handing out negative literature about him.
WITH A MIKE IN HIS HAND AND STANDING AT THE PODIUM, Steve Hunt had the perfect, megaphone opportunity to comment on Flanary but he chose NOT to do so. Even after the meeting and for the rest of the evening, I saw Steve’s calmness and his commitment to resolve real issues people are facing in the current economic downturn.

It is interesting to me to see some of the comments. Particularly the one about Steve's calmness the rest of the evening. after Steve spoke and returned to his seat and saw the flyer he arose and left the venue. Calm? The truth is you can find "dirt" on anyone. I know this is politics but really, aren't we supposed to be dealing with issues and WINNING this race. Defense of a candidate as "nice" is not the issue. We need someone who can beat Marsden...PERIOD. Steve didn't when Marsden wasn't even the incubent and before the district was redrawn to benefit a democrat. Why on earth would anybody believe Steve can do it now. Get real people.
