Another Chris

Do you know why the establishment is trying to force Romney down our throats? I don't buy that argument, by the way, but I will accept it as the premise for this statement:

Because the entire field is an atrocious mess.

Nobody really strong or unifying got in. It's really that simple. Perry was the closest thing to it. I supported him. And he blew it. He had the nomination and arguably the Presidency of the United States all tee'd up for him. And he frittered it away. It's kind of sad actually, to be honest. Because most of America thinks the guy is a joke now. And you know what? He actually did and does have a demonstrable level of success as an executive of a job-producing state. But that won't matter now.

With Perry's self-implosion, that brought teh field right back to the lack of stars we had beforehand. Ron Paul, an always-ran nut, Michele Bachmann, who's busy telling the world how Gardasil makes kids retarded, Rick Santorum, who excites no one (*perhaps I spoke too soon on that? Though it seems desperation more than anything..), Newt Gingrich, who takes the word flawed to a whole new meaning but tempts you with his intelligence and mastery of rhetoric, Jon Huntsman, who also had an excellent record but decided bizarrely to spend his time taking a collective dump on the party base, and Mitt Romney, who has about the same level of charisma as Santorum, comes prepackaged with an atrocious piece of legislation, but whose life seems to be driven by his eternal desire to be President and who seems acceptable to the vast mushy middle.

So in the absence of anyone special...why wouldn't the establishment go with the guy who can win? Really?

There are so many talented guys and gals in the party. That thsi si the field we produced is depressing.
