Several facts to get out of the way first:
- President Obama deserves all of our thanks until the day we all die for making the call many conservatives (and some Democrats) claimed he couldn't make. Whatever your political stripes, I was proud he was my president that day. That should stand alone.
- Mitt Romney would have done the exact same thing.
- The President is ABSOLUTELY politicizing this.
- "Outraged" Republicans would probably be doing the same thing if this were President McCain running for reelection.
THESE SEALs are the ones who we should be celebrating, and they are right to be mad with Obama about this. The facts are the facts right now and honestly this is simply a case of Democratic political operatives no knowing how to handle and manage infusing war and politics as well as Republicans because Republicans are usually the ones running on war and national defense (as if they are the same thing). I'm not as rip-roaring mad about this as others might be because I'm intellectually honest enough with myself to know Republicans, though less ham-handed, would probably be doing the exact same thing.
In addition to the SEALs, Mitt Romney also has a real right to be angry here. I do believe that even insinuating that a President Romney wouldn't have made the call to take out America's greatest enemy is insulting and and has even made a jaded guy like me step back and say, "wow, that really isn't fair."
Now if the President and his outraged opponents would kindly agree to set this issue aside and allow the country in its entirety to celebrate that ghoul's demise, that would be nice.
