People need a sense of humor. This video is awesome, hilarious, and effective. Between Stewart calling for all illegals to be deported (basically), Lingamfelter attacking anyone who says the words "Ron" and "Paul" and plastering Facebook with a picture of him in cammo, Davis buying votes at a dollar a head; Snyder picked the perfect time to show humor and poke fun at himself. This video is awesome.
I think it would work if Snyder were offering some substance in his campaign and it was, as you suggest, a welcome break from the controversial and contentious issues dominating the race.
Alas, Snyder hasn't offered a shred of substance yet. Instead of coming across as "Hey, we have important issues here, but I'm going to show I have a lighter side, too" it comes across (at least to me) as merely the latest demonstration of "This is all I've got... gimmicks".
It's funny. It's fun. But when I get to vote at the convention, I'm not going to be voting for elementary school class vice president.

Like I said the other day, he's essentially Mitt Romney's plastic Mini-Me. That said, the video is amusing.
