So I just got back from Jim LeMunyon's campaign kickoff event in Chantilly, and it was a great turnout. He's running in the 67th against "The Cruise Ship" Chuck Caputo, know best for being on a cruise during the last special session of the legislature which was dedicated exclusively to transportation. Its one thing for your representative to maybe not vote the way you want them too, but you would think that they would have at least enough decency to show up and vote on an issue so critical to the district and the region.
LeMunyon himself sounded like a great candidate, a low-key professional who is a former assistant secretary of Commerce, is committed to the work of running and winning. He bragged that he had already hit on close to 1,500 doors. His presentation was good, as were the issues. This is a race to watch, as Caputo has always been lackluster. He talked a great game, talking about how raising taxes is not the answer because taxes and spending have gone up in Virginia almost 50% since 2001 and we still have budget problems. Instead of raising taxes to encourage irresponsible government growth, LeMunyon talked about spending the money we have wisely, of making priorities and cutting what is not needed. I like what I saw and I like what I heard.
The most interesting part of the event was Rep. Frank Wolf, who used this race as an example of what he is calling "Republican Renaissance" in Virginia now that we have seen the extent of what Barack Obama is doing with runaway spending, little accountability, and propping up bad business over people who played by the rules. Wolf, who I have infinite respect for and someone that the RPV should listen more too, thinks that this race in his district along with that of Barbara Comstock are critical to the growth of the party in the area.
This seat is winnable, and I encourage everyone to go to LeMunyon's site and do what you can to help him out.
It was good seeing you there!

Great crowd and event. There were at least 120+ people there. The enthusiasm was incredible. Republicans in western Fairfax are ready to work and help LeMunyon send Caputo on a permanent vacation.

I went with the wife and kids and had a great time. Nice to see a big crowd like that.
