Check out his interview with JR (who also interviews AG Cuccinelli). Smart, reasoned, and personable. While Rep. Cantor is the Republican who is in the spotlight, 1st district Rep. Rob Wittman has become particularly effective in arguing against this monstrosity without the slogans and poll-tested soundbites.
I've blogged befoer about my growing fondness for Rep. Wittman, but he is turning into a rising star on his own and I would think that he should think about moving up in his career if he thinks about it in 2012. The Republican bench is limited. Tom Davis is toxic to too many conservatives all across the state, and Bob Marsahll might be the exact same but in the other direction. George Allen has too much baggage and too me is just Old Virignia again. It wasn't just because of "maccaca" that he lost. My personal favorite, of course, would be AG Cuccinelli. But he seems intent on staying where he is. Pressure will be put on Bob McDonnell. But somewhere in the middle of all this, I think Rep. Wittman is good to everyone. He is a good conservative, reasoned in his approcach, and incredibly intellegent.
Mr. Wittman is a real star, IMO. Lets see if he continues to shine.
Whittman is another gop hypocrite... votes against the funding for the projects he touts in his district. From dredging to broadband and high speed rail.

Wittman would be a solid candidate to put up. I'd frankly still prefer LG Bolling. Solid conservative, won statewide twice, and would instantly command the GOP field thanks to his decision not to duke out the 2009 Gov. nomination.
Other options?
