For the life of me I can't understand why so many people are announcing for state senate so early with redistricting not yet happening. Jay O'Brien already flamed out and Jackson Miller, Scott Martin, and Spike Williams can't be sure where they will land. I think Miller may end up in the 37th (Marsden), Martin will remain in the 39th (Barker) or the 34th (Petersen), and Williams could end up in the 32nd (Howell).
But one candidate seems safe in her district and that is Patricia Phillips, who is running again in 33rd (Herring). I haven't yet to process all the candidates and don't feel like spending a ton of time on it until after November but I couldn't resist showing how serious Phillips is to get a rematch with Mark Herring she has enlisted the support of actor Stephen Baldwin! I'm impressed, mostly because The Usual Suspects might be my favorite movie of all time (or close to it). I would go, but I'm trying to pay for a wedding I can't splurge to get my photo snapped with McManus.
Stephen Baldwin is impressive, but Phillips is far from a shoo-in. Black will make a run (unfortunately) and Spike Williams is running in teh 33rd, too. What do you mean by wondering where he'll land?

Lloyd, I spelled it out in the post . . . redistricting. Spike could end up in the 32nd with Janet Howell. His other problem is that he is from Fairfax and if you look at the voting patterns the district is about 70-30 Loudoun vs. Fairfax so he'll have some work to do to in the biggest portion of the district.
