It looks like Stafford Co. Board Chairman Susan Stimpson is also running for lieutenant governor, adding another name to a group I have described as a muddle. I first heard about this last week and thought to myself ,"meh, why not?" She can't be worse than some of the alligators running now. My in-laws live in Stafford and love it there, it is a growing county that has a good story to tell.
I don't know much about Susan personally. I don't know what her politics are, what strain of conservatism she respects and what she rejects. I did hear that she is being backed by Bill Howell so that is a bit worrisome. That being said, she's new and I like new. The tired old bulls we have running right now are not particularly interesting to me so I'd like a good look at her.
Anyone know anything about Susan Stimpson?
The idea of she's being back by Howell is guilt by association, or location. She is friendly with Howell. Howell lives in the supv. district she represents. She, of course, knows him well and worked with him a quite a bit as she was Stafford GOP chair and candidate for Supv. However, their politics are quite different. I doubt he's too excited she's running. He had his plate full of options with candidates coming out of him caucus and other more "establishment" candidates coming forth. Look for Stimpson to pull her support from the more conservative side of the Republican party rather than the Howell side.

First off she isn't a countywide elected Chairman, she is a supervisor of a district that isn't even four miles wide.
Totally unqualified to run for Lt. Gov, personally I'm expecting the highly anticipated sequel to Jamie Radtke's fail-bomb of a campaign.

I'll give it two months before another LG candidate jumps in the race and you write off Stimpson for some inane and trivial reason.

No one is happy with the current crop of candidates. Others will be getting in the race.

Sorry...for a moment there I though we talking about Tim Kaine again...

Well, the field is certainly weak enough to justify that...
