This Is Just Sad Now

Compare this shake-my-head-with-concern tone to the exuberance Bearing Drift had for the previous chairman wading into a congressional race.  Not to mention Schoeneman and his forces coming after me when Barbara Comstock made the exact same kind of statement for him!  The double-standard is too delicious.  Sorry fellas, the chairman of the party sees a young, Hispanic candidate in a part of the state we struggle in; it is frankly his duty to speak up and say we need more candidates like that.  

Anthony Bedell Endorses John Guevara

"After all, Schoeneman is objectively pulling away in Sully."

Yeah ... maybe not.  Former Fairfax County Chairman Anthony Bedell, who by the way was chairman when Bob McDonnell won Fairfax County, has officially endorsed John Guevara for Sully supervisor.  This is a big, big deal in Fairfax.  Bedell is synonymous with one thing: winning.  For a new candidate like Guevara to earn this support over two established names in Fairfax like Schoeneman and Litzenberger, its a frankly shocking development.  This wind his at Guevara's back but does he have enough to catch up to Litzenberger?  Who knows, but with endorsements like this he certainly might:   

“This was an easy endorsement for me. It is in line with my philosophy, when I was Chairman and now. It was our Fairfax leadership team’s goal to find candidates with deep ties in their community and making sure we as Republicans offered candidates with different backgrounds. The results were clearly as successful as you can be in Fairfax. The voter paradigm in Fairfax has changed even more from when I was Chairman. Republicans more than ever need to nominate candidates who can reach a wide array and diverse group of voters if we have any chance to win. Nominating John Guevara in Sully meets this standard. I think both of the other candidates are good men and good Republicans. But if we want to hold this Supervisor seat we need to nominate John Guevara so we can win Sully District in November.”

I hope David Skiles has his phone turned off today!

John Guevara Is For Real

RPV Chairman John Whitbeck:

“Growing the Republican Party is essential to our winning elections in Northern Virginia.  John Guevara is exactly the kind of Republican we need to accomplish just that. His military and private sector experience in project management makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.  While I am not endorsing in primaries, I feel it is important for Party leaders to ensure that talented conservatives like John are encouraged to run for office.  We need people like John who are willing to step up and serve their communities and I applaud him for doing so.” 

Pretty good for a newbie.  Again, allow me to be crystal clear (unlike others) ... this is not an endorsement but more a statement of support.  And this is done knowing full well their are other candidates in this race.

Even MORE Drama In Sully

Rumors are swirling about as much as shit talked about me!  I stand by everything I wrote , Comstock gave that blurb after Schoeneman and Herrity assured her they had cleared the field.  After my piece she went underground and is now going to just stand by it, which I can respect, but it is causing some problems for her.

The guy that local business leaders and civic groups know and are supporting is John Litzenberger, who currently is on the Fairfax Planning Commission and the guy who was seen as heir apparent before Brian moved into the district five days before announcing his run.  Litzenberger's problem is he has taken forever to get into this race (and he lost a previous race to Kathy Smith), but he is holding his kickoff finally on March 24.  Why is this important?

I'm hearing that the event could be interesting in who shows up.  Bob Marshall, maybe.  Howie Lind, perhaps.  Even Stephen Hollingshead?  Dick Black?  Rumors rumors rumors, but the natives are restless in Sully and not happy with how this supervisors race has been handled by Republican leaders both inside and outside the district.  All I know is that in a race that shouldn't be that hard, it has become a lot more complicated for everyone involved.  It's a weird world when someone like John Litzenberger may become allies with someone like Bob Marshall.  

Most can't wait for this all to be over.
